Made this for my friend and I thought better also share here for all of you. The picophone m4u model is using spreadtrum sc7731 chipset, it’s quad core cortex a7 with mali400 gpu on 480×854 screen resolution. As on any my custom rom, I took the base from stockrom dump, add root, updating gapps and of course removing bloated software. Because we doesn’t have custom recovery for this spreadtrum chipset then I build this in spreadtrum flashtool format. You will need UpgradeDownload software from spreadtrum  to flash this custom rom. Please be aware, this custom rom is only for m4u model that using ddr2 nand, its not compatible with m4u+ which using ddr3 memory chip.

  • Double check your device model, this custom rom only for m4u model. it is not compatible with m4u+ model. DO NOT try to attempt flashing this custom rom unto your m4u+ device.
  • This custom rom is in spreadtrum pac flashtool format, you need UpgradeDownload software from spreadtrum to flash this customrom. If you haven’t got it, get it from here : UpgradeDownload-R2.9.9015. DO NOT use any other flash tool software or version other than that or you may  potentially bricked your device forever!! Please pay attention on this, you’ve been warned. As always, if you have any other objection about you cannot trust the flash tool (UpgradeDownload software tool) I include in this post, please do not use this custom rom, is as easy as that. If you stubborn enough to continue with your own tool, then you’re on your own.

Flashing Process :

The steps to flash this custom rom using UpgradeDownload software is easy, all you have to do is install UpgradeDownload software and it’s spreadtrum driver, load the pac rom and flash it. However, since I never use winblows maybe I’m incompetent to support it, worse, I know nothing about winblows device manager. Please find your own way to install UpgradeDownload software and it’s drivers correctly and I’m very sorry I cannot support any question about winblows os or how to install UpgradeDownload software.
